Which CBD Product Should I Choose?

The first clinical studies on CBD for joint pain are promising. CBD products can be a safe and affordable alternative to pharmaceutical drugs, such as morphine or other synthetic chemicals used to treat chronic pain, including arthritis. As with any new dietary supplement or medication, it’s important to do your homework before you decide to start taking CBD products. While CBD for joint pain has not yet been approved by the FDA, there are some products available that contain CBD as an ingredient, without any medical evidence that they are effective. If you’re considering CBD as a treatment for your pain, it’s important to understand how CBD is delivered in supplement form, and to choose supplements wisely.

First of all, CBD is not like most other naturally occurring substances found in plants, including THC, which is the active substance in cannabis. When cannabis is grown, it includes all of the plant’s cannabinoids, which include CBD as well as other compounds called cannabidiol (including marjoram, lavender, and lemon balm). When the plant is grown under ideal conditions, the oils from the leaves are dispersed by wind and then collected and pressed into dried pellets. Today’s CBD products are manufactured in much the same way. However, instead of being sprayed with oils (which may contain pesticides), CBD is extracted from the plant in a way that ensures it remains undiluted with the other compounds found in cannabis.

So, how do you know if CBD for joint pain products are right for you? In general, CBD is considered fairly safe. However, there have been reports of unusual interactions between CBD and certain other medications (especially narcotics), so you should talk to your doctor before taking any supplements. Also, CBD can interact with some over-the-counter medications, especially those used for high blood pressure, heart disease, and nausea. While most people take CBD without incident, if you are at risk for side effects, speak to your healthcare provider about your options.

The two primary pharmaceuticals approved for treating pain include oxycodone and hydrocodone. Doctors usually recommend that these drugs be taken along with another non-opioid anti-inflammatory medication. For patients suffering from chronic back or joint pain, this combination seems to provide the most relief. Unfortunately, while CBD seems to be effective against chronic pain, its efficacy against opioid-related disorders is not known.

Currently, the market for CBD for joint pain relief contains two major ingredients: CBD oil and CBD capsules. Both of these products contain a variety of different ingredients, and patients should talk to their doctors to find out which of these is the best for them.
